Having a guest over can increase the number of chores and responsibilities around the house. Not to mention that the situation can be worse if the guest doesn’t clean up after themselves.

Despite that, one can manage the household, children, and other responsibilities if their partner steps up and helps.

But what if the partner ignores their significant other’s complaints about the unruly guest?

This topic was highlighted in a recent Reddit post in which a woman locks her husband’s friend out of their house because he leaves a mess and is hard to manage.

Woman locks the door to her home so her husband’s friend can’t come in

The author starts the post by saying that her husband’s friend had been living with them for over six months. Her husband desperately wanted to get him off the streets and invited him despite the author’s hesitation.

After moving in, he (the friend) quit his job because he didn’t like how the supervisor spoke to him. He does illegal things in their office when the children are present. Her husband and his friend ignored the author’s complaints.

The author hit her breaking point recently when the friend took off with her car without informing her when she had to drop the kids off at school. Added to that, she had a terrible migraine.

When she informed her husband, he got annoyed with her. She explained to her husband that she had to look after six kids, and he or his friend didn’t help her with any work around the house. His friend didn’t even fold his blankets in the morning. Her husband told her to calm down and that she was overreacting.

So the author locked their front door and refused to let the friend inside. When he reached, he didn’t create any ruckus. He posted the picture of the lock on Instagram and captioned it, “Have you ever been locked out of your own home?”

The author lost it and felt like she had done more than enough. She vented in the post that her husband and his friend don’t give her basic respect and that she is always gaslit. She added that her husband has a history of getting angry, so she asked him to wait till the kids were asleep.

In an update, the author says that she contacted the MPO, and they guaranteed that her husband’s friend wouldn’t contact her or come to the house till the investigation was over. She has also decided to get a divorce and take her kids with her.

What do you think? Was the author right to lock the door to keep her husband’s friend from entering? Share your thoughts below.
