What should one do if their partner harms their baby?
This topic was highlighted in a recent Reddit post in which a man is horrified after seeing his wife slap their five-month-old baby.
The author starts the post by saying that he and his wife have a five-month-old boy who needs to be fed or changed at night. So he or his wife hasn’t gotten much sleep.
A few days back, the author woke up to the noise of his wife and son crying in the baby’s room. When he got outside the baby’s room, he saw his wife slapping their baby. The author instantly took the baby to his brother’s house and slept after switching his phone off.
Meanwhile, he got many messages and calls from his wife.
The author later said he would talk to his wife about what happened. He also agreed that his wife might have postpartum depression and needs consultation based on Reddit users’ comments. Till then, he and his baby boy are planning to stay with his brother.
How severe is postpartum depression?
Postpartum depression is very common among mothers, and one in every seven women experiences it. Such mothers might experience baby blues and might be anxious or get angry at the baby. If they show any chances of hurting their child, one has to shift the baby and call for support immediately.
